Access to first job opportunity (Public Sector)

We work in coordination with the Government so that social protection initiatives for public jobs in the country have a gender lens and can benefit more young people with technical skills and a work experience. This approach has the emphasis of creating opportunities for young people's first work experience in public sector activities, in order to contribute to social initiatives, while gaining new skills, new technical knowledge and mainly a paid work experience that opens doors to new horizons in the lives of young men and women.

MUVA Assistentes

DURATION > 1 Month
NEXT COURSE > 22 / 10 / 2022

This project, in partnership with INAS and MGCAS, provides the first experience of paid work, professional orientation and mentoring for young unemployed out-of-school graduates in urban Mozambique.

The young people are placed as teacher’s assistants in overcrowded public primary schools. They are trained for one month by IFP Instituto de Formação de Professores (Teacher Training Institute) and throughout their professional experience as school assistants, they attend mentoring and prossional guidance sessions, as a way of broadening their horizons in terms of employability.

In addition to offering a professional opportunity, the presence of school assistants in classrooms allows children, especially those with learning difficulties, to receive greater attention and teachers to have additional help.

MUVA Green

DURATION > 14Month NEXT COURSE > 22 / 10 / 2022 This initiative focuses on creating employment opportunities for young women in the area of construction and the rehabilitation of green spaces in peri-urban areas. We rehabilitated 3 public spaces and trained young women from the Chamanculo neighbourhood in Maputo for 4 months. The young women are included in work areas mostly occupied by men, so we added to the technical training, mentoring sessions, focusing on self-esteem both on and off site. This component, allied to technical learning and the opportunity for employment, was fundamental for the empowerment and labor insertion of the young women.
