Entrepreneurship

We support women entrepreneurs to grow their businesses, increase their income, and become more inclusive leaders. We work with micro-enterprises (such as vegetable sellers in informal markets) and SMEs (such as traders with structured businesses), formal and informal businesses. Our commitment is to increase the business productivity and profit of these businesses. We deeply understand that each business has its own particularities, opportunities and challenges. We recognize and appreciate this heterogeneity, so we develop different entrepreneurship interventions for the different business profiles we work with and for that, we have a multidisciplinary team.

Sonho Rural

DURATION > 4 Months
Next COURSE > 22 / 10 / 2022

This project focuses on the employability and entrepreneurship of young women aged 18-24, in a situation of extreme socio-economic vulnerability, from urban, peri-urban and rural areas. It is implemented in partnership with PEPFAR’s DREAMS Programme, with a range of local partners and organizations.

The intervention, which lasts 4 months, mixes training and group mentoring components. Young women learn business management tools, financial literacy, socio-emotional skills for employability and entrepreneurship, and work on self-confidence to access the world of work. The training and mentoring sessions take place in the DREAMS Project Girls’ Clubs near their homes and communities.

At the end of the intervention, participants receive a financial grant so that they can start their working lives, open a business, or access a job opportunity.

MUVA+

DURATION > 4 Months
Next COURSE > 22 / 10 / 2022

This project aims to improve the businesses of women vendors of perishable goods in urban informal markets. By recognizing the skills of women entrepreneurs, the intervention deepens their business knowledge, supports participants to grow their businesses and to prosper on a personal and professional level.

The intervention lasts 4 months and intersperses group training and individual mentoring sessions. In the group training, implemented within the market where they work, participants learn financial literacy concepts, business management and sales and innovation strategies. In these sessions, socio-emotional skills for entrepreneurship and personal initiative are also worked on. During individual mentoring, implemented at their workplace, the participants apply what they have learned in the group training to their day-to-day business.

PAM

DURATION > 4 Months
Next COURSE > 22 / 10 / 2022

MUVA’s Micro and Small Business Acceleration Programme (PAM) supports formal and informal women micro-entrepreneurs with growth potential to acquire the necessary technical and socio-emotional skills to access more business opportunities and new markets.

Businesses become more financially sustainable from acquiring technical management skills, promoting innovation and business digitization. We focus on ensuring that businesses know their value chain better and can institute innovative processes that put their stakeholders at the center of business decision-making. This is made possible from the implementation and use of gender lens design thinking market research. This methodology, previously restricted to the Global North, has been adapted to the Mozambican context so that micro-enterprises can also benefit and grow innovatively.

With business growth and the development of socio-emotional skills, women entrepreneurs use their social role to inspire other women and thus increase the visibility and dignity of women entrepreneurs.
